Denver is one of the most visually competitive commercial environments on the Front Range. From illuminated channel letters above a LoDo bar to high-rise identification on a 15-story Midtown tower, the signs that define this city's neighborhoods have to do real work — attracting attention at speed, communicating brand identity at a glance, holding up through Colorado's four-season climate.

Vision Visual Custom Sign Company is Denver's commercial sign company for that kind of work — designed, fabricated, and installed by a team that has built signs across this city's most recognized districts.

Why Denver Businesses Choose Vision Visual for Commercial Signage

What sets us apart from other commercial sign companies serving Denver is simple: we manufacture every sign in-house at our Golden, CO facility and we don't outsource fabrication. That means tighter quality control, faster turnaround times, and no markup layers.

Our team is UL-certified for electrical sign manufacturing — a credential required by Denver's building code for any illuminated exterior signage — and every installer is OSHA-trained for safe bucket truck operations. We're also proud members of the Signworld Network, the International Sign Association (ISA), and the Colorado Sign Association.

Denver Neighborhoods We Serve

Denver's commercial corridors each have their own character — what makes a sign work on Tennyson Street is different from what works on the 16th Street Mall or in a glass-curtain-wall tower in the Central Business District. We've worked in virtually every major district in the city.

LoDo & McGregor Square

Wall signage for Tom’s Watch Bar at Coors Field, service at Dave’s Hot Chicken — high-traffic with elevated design expectations.

RiNo (River North Arts District)

Denver's most design-forward commercial zone. RGB illuminated push-through acrylic for EMERGE — art-forward clients expect more than a standard channel letter.

Highlands & Tennyson Street

Post Oak Barbeque, Denver Cat Company (3D cat sign), PROST Brewery, F45 Fitness — one of Denver's most active independent corridors.

16th Street Mall

The Yard Milkshake Bar and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory — where pedestrian dwell time drives the sign brief.

Broadway & Santa Fe Arts District

Crossroads Trading corner staging panels. Wizard's Chest castle-tower restoration. Design review districts we navigate every day.

Cherry Creek, Larimer Square, 5 Points & Beyond

We serve all of Denver’s major districts — each with its own foot-traffic pattern and permitting requirements.

Sign Permits in Denver — What You Need to Know

Denver has a more complex permitting environment than most Front Range cities. Two requirements catch clients off guard when they work with sign companies that don't manage the process completely.

Design Review Districts

LoDo, RiNo, the Santa Fe Arts District, and Broadway are subject to design review for signage — an additional layer of approval evaluating aesthetic and material compliance with district design guidelines.

We work directly with Denver’s design review staff to develop solutions that comply while meeting our clients’ brand and budget requirements.

Right-of-Way (ROW) Permits

Exterior sign installations that extend into or over Denver’s public right of way — projecting signs, blade signs, and some wall signs with outward elements — require a separate ROW permit from Denver Public Works.

We pull ROW permits as a standard part of our scope, including the submittal, traffic control plan, and coordination with Denver Public Works for inspection.

We know which districts trigger design review, which installations need ROW permits, and how to move through both processes efficiently. Our clients open on time because we manage permitting from the start. Learn more →

Frequently Asked Questions — Commercial Signs in Denver, CO

  • image/svg+xmlimage/svg+xml
What kinds of commercial signs do you make for Denver businesses?
Vision Visual produces a full range of commercial signs for Denver clients — channel letter signs, illuminated push-through cabinet signs, monument and pole signs, high-rise building identification, interior branding, dimensional logo signs, projecting blade signs, and LED retrofits. All signs are designed and fabricated in-house at our Golden, CO facility.
  • image/svg+xmlimage/svg+xml
Do you handle sign permits in Denver?
Yes. We manage all City and County of Denver sign permits — including standard building permits, design review submittals for arts and historic districts, and right-of-way permits for exterior sign installations that extend into the public ROW. We handle all three as part of the project.
  • image/svg+xmlimage/svg+xml
What is Denver's design review requirement for signs?
Several of Denver's commercial neighborhoods — including parts of LoDo, RiNo, the Santa Fe Arts District, and Broadway — require signage to pass through a design review process in addition to standard building permitting. Design review evaluates aesthetic and material compliance with district design guidelines. We work directly with Denver's design review staff to develop sign designs that comply with district standards and meet client brand and budget requirements.
  • image/svg+xmlimage/svg+xml
What is a right-of-way permit and do I need one for my Denver sign?
A right-of-way (ROW) permit from Denver Public Works is required when a sign installation extends into or over the public right of way — including projecting signs, blade signs, and some wall-mounted signs with outward elements. ROW permits require a traffic control plan in many cases. We manage the ROW permit submittal and coordination with Denver Public Works as a standard part of our scope when it applies.
  • image/svg+xmlimage/svg+xml
Can you install signs on high-rise buildings in Denver?
Yes. We have the bucket truck and boom equipment to perform high-rise sign installation in Denver, and our crews are OSHA-trained for work at elevation. We've installed illuminated channel letters on a 15-story building for Cigna, a push-through cabinet on a 13-story building for Zivaro, and completed LED retrofit and service on 13-story signage for Tuff Shed.
  • image/svg+xmlimage/svg+xml
Do you repair and maintain existing signs in Denver?
Yes. We provide sign repair and maintenance throughout Denver — LED module replacement, electrical troubleshooting, face and vinyl replacement, neon restoration, and structural repairs. We've done service work for clients including The Wizard's Chest (Broadway), Dave's Hot Chicken (LoDo), and Punch Bowl Social (Broadway). Our Golden fabrication facility means faster replacement component production than competitors sourcing parts from outside the area.
